Another rural favourite is the Scottish Highlands and Scottish Islands, with average holiday let turnover in the area hitting around £28,200 in 2024, according to data found in Sykes Holiday Letting Outlook Report.
These locations appeal to outdoor lovers – especially those who enjoy hiking, castles and wildlife – and often command bookings beyond the peak tourist months.
South West Coast, Including Dorset and Cornwall
Coastal regions deliver a mix of sea views and family holiday demand with popular seaside towns – such as Brixham and Teignmouth – seeing very strong increases in bookings.
In fact, data from MoneyWeek shows a year-on-year 62% increase for Brixham in 2025.
Sea view lodges and lodges near the beach are especially popular along the coast, along with properties boasting outdoor space or easy access to coastal paths and attractions.
